Exodus 34:18-20 Demonstrates the Vital Concept of Redemption

Yahweh claimed ownership of the first offspring of every Israelite womb. In Biblical culture, this meant the first offspring was sacrificed. However, the Israelites were not allowed to sacrifice donkeys nor humans, so they sacrificed lambs in their place. This was the concept of redemption. Redemption is vital to Christians because all people have sinned and deserve eternal punishment; however, Jesus Christ died in our place, thus redeeming us from our punishment.
