Yahweh forbade the Israelites from making covenants with the Canaanites and inter-marrying with them. Likewise, the New Testament forbids us Christians from being unequally yoked with unbelievers. The warning that was given to the Israelites is true for us Christians: being yoked with unbelievers might lead us astray.
