We humans want life to be fair and we want God to make life fair. Unfortunately, we tend to assume God is fair and some people refuse to believe in a god who is not fair. Exodus 10-11 illustrates that God does not make life fair, but instead of rejecting this truth about God because it doesn’t conform to our wishful thinking, we need to accept the reality that God is who He is.

Ex. 10:21 Then the LORD[Yahweh] said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even a darkness which may be felt.”
Ex. 10:22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.
Ex. 10:23 They[Egyptians] did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the sons of Israel had light in their dwellings.
Ex. 10:24 Then Pharaoh called to Moses, and said, “Go, serve the LORD[Yahweh]; only let your flocks and your herds be detained. Even your little ones may go with you.”
Ex. 10:25 But Moses said, “You[Pharaoh] must also let us have sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice them to the LORD[Yahweh] our God.
Ex. 10:26 “Therefore, our[Israel] livestock too shall go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind, for we shall take some of them to serve the LORD[Yahweh] our God. And until we arrive there, we ourselves do not know with what we shall serve the LORD.”
Ex. 10:27 But the LORD[Yahweh] hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he[Pharaoh] was not willing to let them[Israel] go.
Ex. 10:28 Then Pharaoh said to him[Moses], “Get away from me! Beware, do not see my face again, for in the day you see my face you shall die!”
Ex. 10:29 Moses said, “You[Pharaoh] are right; I shall never see your face again!”

Ex. 11:1 Now the LORD[Yahweh] said to Moses, “One more plague I[Yahweh] will bring on Pharaoh and on Egypt; after that he[Pharaoh] will let you[Israelites] go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out from here completely.
Ex. 11:2 “Speak now in the hearing of the people[Israelites] that each man ask from his neighbor and each woman from her neighbor for articles of silver and articles of gold.”
Ex. 11:3 The LORD[Yahweh] gave the people[Israelites] favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Furthermore, the man Moses himself was greatly esteemed in the land of Egypt, both in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.

Ex. 11:5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well.
Ex. 11:6 ‘Moreover, there shall be a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been before and such as shall never be again.
Ex. 11:7 ‘But against any of the sons of Israel a dog will not even bark, whether against man or beast, that you[Egyptians] may understand how the LORD[Yahweh] makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.’
Ex. 11:8 “All these your[Pharaoh] servants will come down to me[Moses] and bow themselves before me, saying, ‘Go out, you[Moses] and all the people[Israelites] who follow you[Moses],’ and after that I[Moses] will go out.” And he[Moses] went out from Pharaoh in hot anger.

Ex. 11:9 Then the LORD[Yahweh] said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that My wonders will be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”
Ex. 11:10 Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh; yet the LORD[Yahweh] hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he[Pharaoh] did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.
